I imagine there might be some sermons but is there ever anything involving literature, movies or other media?

There are films every day, stuff for kids to do, swimming, workshops, etc. It's not just bands and there is a vibe to the whole thing that I've not experienced at other Christian music festivals. Very cool all around.

Sermons? Not really, unless you count some of the workshop/breakout sessions.

sounds like a hippie gathering to me.

I HCG'd a round. I was only disciplined enough for the first 20 days or so. After that, I should have just quit the diet.

The good news is that I am still down quite a bit from where I had been, but even the thought of asparagus, at the moment, is not even appealing!

That's why my buddy and I started our "Old Farts Bike Gang" and have been mountain bike riding like our asses are on fire! I've dropped about 20lbs since this winter.

I have the recordings of the Mike & Terry stop in Springfield, on the BBQ tour, and the Mike/Mark show from 04 here, too.

I didn't have anyone record the show that I had mike play at our neighborhood clubhouse.

Holy Crap, Batman!

I just googled Ping Pong Over the Abyss. There are a TON of pirates out there with torrents of the 123 Box set. That's GOTTA suck!

Oh, GREAT! Now the good Doctor's mando credibility has gone right out the window!

Uh, well, thanks to you, and your mando solo on "Blue All Over", I HAD to have a mando to learn to play. I suck at playing it, but have a blast every time. I have been playing it in the worship band at church, this past month, which mostly consists of two finger chords. Shocked

I should have vorted for Happy Chrimbo. It's unfinished but I'm particularly proud of that one, mostly 'cuz we did it lightening fast like the Lost Dogs do. Consequently, it always sounds fresh and immediate to me rather than labored over. I always have bad feelings towards labored over albums even if I like them. I remember the work and the striving and only hear the mistakes and failings. This seems to be a universal thing amongst recording artists. I wish we had the balls to go back to the 50's (and earlier) method of recording, which was live in the studio. Elvis started the thing of doing endless takes to perfect a master so I can blame him I guess.

Well, I will confess that I was one of the "FWS" votards. I dig the layers of audio texture in that recording.

Of all my Christmas related discs, Chrimbo is towards the top of the heap.

I love Mondegreens.

(A mondegreen is the mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase, typically a standardized phrase such as a line in a poem or a lyric in a song, due to near homophony, in a way that yields a new meaning to the phrase.)

Congrats to the Seventy Sevens!

I remember buying PPOTA from the Christian book store. I had a friend from another church in our district telling me about it, and so I "ordered" it from the bookstore, before I had ever heard it. Glad I took his recommendation!

Juan - I love the Chesterton quote but I have not read anything by him. Is there a particular book by him that you would recommend?

I always assumed the guy on the cover of Sticks And Stones was Mike, now I'm not so sure. Anybody have the scoop on who that was?

My dad had the "Little Richard" LP that the cover was modeled after.

Watch the Mercy Mercy video, and I think that your assumption will be confirmed.

(I couldn't get the video to work from the 77's web site. Maybe Mike can upload it to YouTube for the rest of the world to see)

The guitar work on this song is some of my all time FAVORITE Dr Love playing, but then again, I am a sucker for that "surf guitar" sound. Whether Doc intended it to be a "surf guitar" sound or not, it's always kinda fit in that niche in my head.

Prime example of a perfect match of "words and music" (obscure reference to some dialog in the movie "Eddie and the Cruisers)

Duh Huh...I missed a word the first time around when I posted this.
